Berlin to ban gasoline driven vehicles from the city
Berlin senator Regine Guenther further announced that in a second step, the so called Zero-Emission-Zone will be extended to the entire city.
Along with this shift to greener transportation technologies, it is planned to upgrade the entire fleet of vehicles used by governmental entities with electric propulsion.
Part of this initiative includes airplanes, which have to pay for landing and take-off a CO2 fee.
The bill which was years in the making also aims to accelerate greener building standards, to construct solar panels on new buildings, as well as for those which undergo upgrades.
There are also plans to reduce the costs for the yearly public transportation ticket, down to 365€.
