The Deplatforming of ClimateState
Basically all U.S. social networks have applied restrictions or complete bans to ClimateState.com – a science website.
Social networks that have banned ClimateState
- BlueSky
- Steam – not publishing our application
- YouTube
Social networks that have restricted ClimateState
- Twitter/X possibly restricted account
- Facebook limited traffic to our page
- Facebook halted monetization
It started around 2017, and probably includes all U.S. based social networks. Very likely due to the U.S. government – (who else?), which could come down to adding our domain to a deplatforming listing. And it highlights how free speech is a fragile good, and no longer upheld by the United States. The reason may be our success story on YouTube – among the most viewed channels for climate topics up until the meddling began.
Today, YouTube is still a mayor (the largest?) source for climate denial, and earns money from promoting lies, while global warming continues, and accelerates.
Our hope is that a European based YouTube alternative will eventually emerge. In the meantime you can support us on Patreon or by direct Paypal donations. Your support goes towards running the website, keeping our existing videos on demand online, or the hiring of authors for articles.
