A Single Battery Charge Enough to Travel 1200 KM
Independent: A Tesla vehicle equipped with a next-generation battery was able to travel more than 1,200km (750 miles) on a single charge.
The first road test of the Gemini battery, developed by Detroit-based startup Our Next Energy (ONE), achieved nearly double the typical range that a standard Tesla Model S is able to achieve, and more than the highest range of any mass-produced gasoline-powered vehicle.
Looks like the new range anxiety will be about the outdated gasoline vehicles.
ONE founder and CEO Mujeeb Ijaz noted, “We want to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles by eliminating range anxiety, which holds back most consumers today. We are now focused on evolving this proof-of-concept battery into a new product called GeminiTM, which will enable long distance trips on a single charge while improving cost and safety using sustainable materials.”
The ONE prototype is using an innovative lithium iron phosphate battery.
About Our Next Energy
Our Next Energy, Inc. (ONE) is a Michigan-based developer of innovative energy storage systems. Founded in 2020 by Mujeeb Ijaz, a battery systems engineer with more than 30 years of experience, the ONE engineering team are focused on safer battery chemistries that use sustainable raw materials while creating a reliable, low cost and conflict-free supply chain. ONE will begin production of its first product, AriesTM, in late 2022 and will demonstrate a production prototype GeminiTM battery in 2023.
