Climate Matters: Weather Systems Stalling
“It seems like the weather, increasingly, is getting stuck.” Meteorologist Paul Douglas explains this weather pattern that seems to be stuck in a rut. Swells, drought and a polar vortex! Learn how it is impacting everywhere from Hawaii/Alaska all the way to Europe. The Winter Olympics may feel more like the Summer Olympics!

Thanks for the awesome scientific explanation Paul. You’ve gotta be getting
tired of these “stuck” systems :)
I’ve watched Paul Douglas for years here in MInnesota. We miss him.
There was a dust storm today in Macoupin County, Illinois just northeast of
St. Louis. Not enough wet sloppy snow to hold the topsoil down.
Great visualization of the stuck deformed jetstream and the weather related
incidents its causing everywhere. Here in Norway we have also had yet
another storm system battering us on the edge of the jetstream that simply
doesnt seem to want to move. I really wonder how things will be when the
ice in the Arctic is gone in 10-15 years.
The stuck pattern that’s trapping cold air over the US Midwest & Northeast
is keeping California dry and Alaska warm.
Nome is in its 2nd week of above average warm weather, anywhere from 13 to
30°F above the expected norms.
It looks as if global climate wierding has begun in earnest. Our kids will
piss on our graves and their kids will curse our names.
The jet stream is slowing down and when it does that it waves and undulates
more, sending warm pockets of air north and cold pockets of air south,
where they shouldn’t be. Same reason hurricane Sandy turned into the coast,
jet stream undulation. It was running south to north instead of the typical
east / northeast direction which blows hurricanes out to sea typically. I
talk about this in my daily videos that I do on my channel.
